Peacemaker Cast: Character Guide and Descriptions (2024)

When DC announced that Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn would be handling the second attempt at The Suicide Squad, fans rejoice with the hope that he would be able to revive the DC cinematic universe. The film was listed as a sequel, but returning star, Joel Kinnaman said, "With James Gunn, it's a whole new universe." The Suicide Squad premiered to massive success, with audiences loving Gunn’s fresh take on the franchise.

John Cena’s portrayal of Peacemaker was a massive hit with fans, so it was no surprise when HBO announced the spin-off series, Peacemaker. Peacemaker premiered on January 13, 2022, and begins right after the close of The Suicide Squad with Peacemaker trying to figure out what to do next. Gunn returned to the helm and said that the spin-off series and The Suicide Squadwould be very different. Just like with The Suicide Squad, Gunn has given DC fans fantastic new characters to obsess over in Peacemaker.

Christopher Smith / Peacemaker

John Cena reprises his role as Christopher Smith a.k.a. Peacemaker. Believing in peace at any cost, Peacemaker is a trained killer with expertise in every weapon. Having survived Task Force X, Peacemaker now has to go back to his old life and figure out how to move on. Although, he can not hide for long as he is quickly brought on to a new team. Cena’s WWE background clearly benefits him in this performance as he perfectly delivers every moment of this series, including an improved pop culture-filled rant.

Emilia Harcourt

Jennifer Holland returns as the lethal operative, Emilia Harcourt. Tasked as Peacemaker’s handler, Harcourt believes she is being punished by Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) for her part in assisting Task Force X. Harcourt is skilled in combat and is easily annoyed by her team of novices. Jennifer Holland is wonderful in her performance as the no-nonsense Harcourt.

John Economos

Steve Agee is back as the lovable John Economos. Another member sent by Waller, Economos is the team’s tech and tactical expert. Although smart, he is self-conscious about his looks and his skills. Peacemaker is relentless with his playful bullying of Economos, but the sensitive man proves he is an integral part of the team.

Leota Adebayo

Orange Is the New Black’s Danielle Brooks joins the cast as Leota Adebayo. Adebayo is the greenest member of the team with this being her first mission. Although trained in weaponry, Adebayo never felt that it was the right fit for her. She is the voice of reason and the glue that keeps her team together. After seeing Danielle Brooks in Orange Is the New Black, Gunn wrote this role specifically for her, so it is no surprise that she knocks this role out of the park.

Clemson Murn

Chukwudi Iwuji joins the cast as team leader, Clemson Murn. Murn was chosen specifically by Amanda Waller to lead the team due to his integral knowledge of the top-secret project. Murn is an all-business, dark ops mercenary, who holds his feelings very close to him and will stop at nothing to achieve his objective.

Adrian Chase / Vigilante

Freddie Stroma is incredible as Adrian Chase a.k.a. Vigilante. With a strong fondness for shooting bad guys and blowing stuff up, Vigilante is great at creating chaos. He works as a busboy at Fennel Fields Mediterranean and is Peacemaker’s best human friend. Vigilante lacks any real human emotions but has a great sense of humor.

August 'Auggie' Smith

Acting legend Robert Patrick plays Peacemaker’s racist father, August ‘Auggie’ Smith. Auggie is a white supremacist and former vigilante, White Dragon. Auggie taught Peacemaker everything he knows and provides him with his different Peacemaker helmets which Auggie keeps in his secret armory.

Eagly

Eagly, a bald eagle, is Peacemaker’s best friend and loyal sidekick. Eagly is always accompanying Peacemaker on his missions and is not afraid to get his feathers dirty. He is excellent at hunting small animals and likes to gift them to his friends. Although he may not always understand his role, he earns his place on the team.

Judomaster

Judomaster is played by newcomer Nhut Le. Judomaster specializes in martial arts and is a bodyguard for Senator Royland Goff. Judomaster is a bit of a jerk and is always causing problems for Peacemaker and his team. Due to his love of Cheetos, Judomaster always has orange fingertips.

Peacemaker has become one of the highest-rated DCEU properties, overtaking Wonder Woman. With the success of the first season, audiences were hopeful that HBO would green-light the series for its sophom*ore season. Luckily fans got their wish when Gunn announced in February that there would be another season of the smash hit. There has been no information on a release date for season two or what actors will be reprising their roles. One thing is for certain, and that is that Gunn will again be at the helm. All episodes of Peacemaker are streaming on HBO Max.
